Sean Elliott (1968)
Elliott has developed into one of the best announcers in the NBA, doing commentary for his San Antonio Spurs. They wanted him there after a stellar playing career, spending 11 of his 12 seasons in San Antonio.
The feisty defender was selected third overall by the Spurs in the 1989 NBA Draft, making two All-Star appearances throughout his 12-year career. His first All-Star appearance was in 1993, which is why the Detroit Pistons signed him the following season. Elliott was aching to go back to San Antonio, though, and rejoined them in 1995. He made his final All-Star appearance two years later, helping them win a title in 1999 as well.
Elliott retired in 2001 but was one of the players who set the tone for a Spurs culture that became a title contender across the next decade after Elliott’s retirement. He was also a two-time All-American at Arizona before becoming a Spurs legend. Throughout his 12-year career, Elliott averaged 14.2 points, 4.3 rebounds, 2.6 assists and 0.8 steals per game.
