Kyle Lowry was the face of the most successful era in Toronto Raptors history.
The Toronto Raptors announced today that Kyle Lowry’s No. 7 will be raised to the rafters at Scotiabank Arena in a post-game ceremony on Sunday, January 10, when the Raptors host the Philadelphia 76ers.

A Philadelphia native who became the face of the most successful era in Toronto Raptors history, Lowry helped lead the franchise to its first NBA championship in 2019 and earned his place as the GROAT — the Greatest Raptor of All Time. He will become the second player in franchise history to have his number retired, joining Vince Carter, whose No. 15 was retired on November 2, 2024.
“I’ve been looking forward to this moment for years. I always said that Toronto is home, and that I’d retire a Raptor, and to see my No. 7 go up in that building is going to mean everything to me,” Lowry said. “We built something special here — my teammates, the organization, the city and the fans, and all of Canada. We became champions together, and to be able to share this night with all of them, and with my family, is going to mean a lot to me.”
Raptors fans will be at the heart of the celebration, with additional GROAT Nights giving them more opportunities to relive some of the moments that made Lowry one of the most beloved players in franchise history.
The weekend begins Jan. 7 against the Minnesota Timberwolves and continues Jan. 8 vs. the Utah Jazz, with both games tipping off at 7:30 p.m. ET. Fans will take home a collectible T-shirt on Jan. 7 and a limited-edition Kyle Lowry bobblehead on Jan. 8, with special programming and surprises planned throughout both nights.
It all leads to Jan. 10, when fans will join Lowry, his family, former teammates and the Raptors organization as No. 7 is raised to the rafters at Scotiabank Arena.
To mark the announcement of Lowry’s retirement ceremony, Lowry and the Raptors will give one lucky fan the opportunity to experience this milestone week and win a pair of tickets to all three GROAT Nights. Contest details will be shared on the Raptors’ social media channels and website in the coming days.
Lowry’s number will hang alongside the championship banner he helped bring to the city following nine seasons with the Raptors, seven of which resulted in playoff appearances as well as two Eastern Conference Finals and the team’s inaugural championship in 2019. The six-time NBA All-Star currently holds the position of the franchise’s all-time leader in assists, steals, and three-point field goals made.
