Anthony Edwards ranks 4th on the Timberwolves leaderboard for playoff games.
The Minnesota Timberwolves have made the playoffs 12 times in their franchise history. They are still on the hunt for their first NBA title. Let’s highlight their top five all-time leaders in playoff games played.
1. Kevin Garnett, 47 Games
The Timberwolves selected Garnett with the fifth pick in the 1995 Draft. He made 10 All-Star teams with the franchise and was named the MVP of the 2003-04 season. While Garnett produced gaudy numbers during the regular season, he never won a title with the franchise. The furthest that he advanced in the playoffs with the Timberwolves was the Western Conference Finals. Across his 47 career playoff games with the franchise, he averaged 22.3 points, 13.4 rebounds, 5.0 assists, 1.3 steals and 1.9 blocks.
2. Karl-Anthony Towns, 32 Games
The Timberwolves selected Towns with the first pick in the 2015 Draft. He went on to win the Rookie of the Year Award and make four All-Star teams with the franchise. The furthest that he advanced in the playoffs was the Western Conference Finals. Over his 32 career playoff games with the team, he averaged 18.8 points, 10.2 rebounds and 2.4 assists. Despite the team making the Western Conference Finals in the 2023-24 season, Towns was dealt to the Knicks in the offseason.
3. Wally Szczerbiak, 29 Games
Szczerbiak was another high draft pick of the Timberwolves after he was selected sixth overall in the 1999 Draft. His best performance came in the 2001-02 season when he averaged 18.7 points, 4.8 rebounds and 3.1 assists per game. That was also the only season that he made an All-Star team. Szczerbiak made five trips to the playoffs with the Timberwolves, never advancing past the Western Conference Finals. Over his 29 playoff games, he averaged 12.7 points and 4.0 rebounds.
4. Anthony Edwards, 27 Games
Edwards is the current face of the franchise for the Timberwolves, who selected him first overall in the 2020 Draft. He finished second in the Rookie of the Year voting, averaging 19.3 points per game in 2020-21. He has averaged at least 21.3 points per game in each season since. On the team’s run to the Western Conference Finals last season, he averaged 27.6 points, 7.0 rebounds and 6.5 assists while logging 41 minutes per game. Across 27 career playoff games, Edwards has averaged 27.8 points, 6.0 rebounds, 5.5 assists and 1.5 steals.
5. Anthony Peeler, 26 Games
Peeler is the lone member of this list who was not drafted by the Timberwolves. He joined the team after stints with the Lakers and Grizzlies. He mostly came off the bench during his time with the Timberwolves, which contributed to him never averaging more than 10.5 points per game a season with the team. Still, he made 26 playoff appearances with the franchise over six postseason runs. Over his 26 playoff games, he averaged 8.8 points, 4.3 rebounds and 1.2 steals. None of those playoff trips resulted in the Timberwolves advancing past the first round.
