All-Time All-NBA First Team: Orlando Magic

The Orlando Magic franchise began in 1989-90. Over the course of their history, three players have been selected All-NBA First Team. All three of those players were selected at least two times, as well. Let’s highlight the performances that helped them earn the honor.


Dwight Howard – 5 Times (2008, 2009, 2010, 2011, 2012)

The Magic selected Howard with the first pick in the 2004 Draft. In 2007-08, he earned All-NBA First Team for the first time in his career by averaging 20.7 points, 14.2 rebounds and 2.1 blocks per game. That also marked the first season that he led the NBA in rebounds per game. Howard would go on to be named All-NBA First Team for five straight seasons from 2008 through 2012. During that span, he led the league in rebounds per game four times, blocks per game two times and won three Defensive Player of the Year Awards. Across 621 career regular season games with the Magic, Howard averaged 18.4 points, 13.0 rebounds and 2.2 blocks.

Anfernee Hardaway – 2 Times (1995, 1996)

Hardaway spent the first six seasons of his career with the Magic. In 1993-94, he finished second in Rookie of the Year voting. The next season, he made his first All-Star team and was named All-NBA First Team with averages of 20.9 points, 4.4 rebounds, 7.2 assists and 1.7 steals per game. Hardaway was selected as an All-Star and named All-NBA First Team again the next season, averaging 21.7 points, 4.3 rebounds, 7.1 assists and 2.0 steals per game. He also finished third in MVP voting that season. Over 369 career regular season games with the Magic, Hardaway averaged 19.0 points, 4.7 rebounds, 6.3 assists and 1.9 steals. Following his tenure with the Magic, Hardaway played for the Suns, Knicks and Heat.

Tracy McGrady – 2 Times (2002, 2003)

After spending the first three seasons of his career with the Raptors, McGrady landed with the Magic for the 2000-01 season. He made his first All-Star team that season and won the Most Improved Player award. In 2001-02, he was selected All-NBA First Team for the first time with averages of 25.6 points, 7.9 rebounds, 5.3 assists, 1.6 steals and 1.4 3-pointers. The following season, he led the NBA by averaging 32.1 points per game to be selected All-NBA First Team again. In addition to his scoring prowess, McGrady averaged 6.5 rebounds, 5.5 assists and 1.7 steals per game that season. McGrady also led the league by scoring 28.0 points per game in 2003-04, but was named All-NBA Second Team. That was his last campaign with the Magic. Across 295 regular-season games with the Magic, McGrady averaged 28.1 points, 7.0 rebounds, 5.2 assists, 1.5 steals and 1.7 3-pointers. McGrady made All-NBA Second Team one time after leaving the Magic.
