📝 Monday’s Top Storylines 📝

  1. Kristaps Porziņģis made his season debut for the Boston Celtics in a 126-94 win over the LA Clippers. Porziņģis played 23 minutes and finished with 16 points (6-12 FG, 1-6 3PT), six rebounds, two assists, a steal and two blocks, helping the Celtics earn their sixth consecutive victory. Boston was once again on fire from deep, drilling over 43% of their shot attempts (22-51), good for +45 from behind the arc on the night.
  2. Ja Morant made his return from an eight-game absence tonight to help lead the Grizzlies to a 123-98 rout of the Blazers. Morant posted a double-double with 22 points and 11 assists in only 23 minutes of action, and was a game-high +22. Memphis was stout defensively, holding Portland to just 33.3% (34-102 FG) shooting from the field.
  3. The Oklahoma City Thunder have reeled off back-to-back wins since Isaiah Hartenstein made his season debut last week. Hartenstein and Shai Gilgeous-Alexander recorded double-doubles in their 130-109 win over the Sacramento Kings, and Jalen Williams continues his third-year breakout with 28 points (10-16 FG, 3-7 3PT, 5-5 FT), four rebounds, five assists, two steals and a block. With Golden State’s loss to Brooklyn, OKC stands atop the brutal Western Conference at 13-4.

  1. LaMelo Ball: 44 points (17-30 FG, 4-11 3PT, 6-8 FT), nine rebounds, seven assists, a steal and a block.
  2. OG Anunoby: career-high 40 points (16-23 FG, 5-7 3PT, 3-3 FT), five rebounds, four assists and a block.
  3. Shai Gilgeous-Alexander: 37 points (13-20 FG, 4-7 3PT, 7-11 FT), four rebounds and 11 assists.

Bank stays open late for Brooklyn 💰

Dennis Schröder and Stephen Curry went head to head in the fourth quarter, but it was the Nets who came away with a close win over the Warriors, 128-120. Schröder led all scorers with 31, adding five rebounds, seven assists and two steals. Curry finished with 28 points (8-17 FG, 8-16 3PT), four rebounds and seven assists.

Golden State loses consecutive games for the first time this year after being outscored 70-53 in the second half. Brooklyn finished the game +15 from the free throw line (26-30 FT).


How did Hartenstein see this?! 👀

Isaiah Hartenstein continues to do everything the Thunder hoped he would when they signed him over the summer. He recorded another double-double tonight with 17 points (8-14 FG), ten rebounds and four assists, his second in as many games since he made his season debut on Nov. 20.

The Thunder held a 63-62 lead at halftime but outscored the Kings 67-47 in the second half, securing a 130-109 win on the road.


Brooklyn storming back against Warriors

Dennis Schröder has 10 points in the fourth quarter, including two 3s, to bring the Nets all the way back from down 18 at one point. He has 22 points for the game and Cam Thomas has chipped in 23. Brooklyn leads 105-104 with 4:10 remaining at the Chase Center.


⚡ SGA starting to take over ⚡

Shai Gilgeous-Alexander and the Thunder go on a 22-8 run in the third quarter to separate themselves from the Kings. SGA has 35 points (13-18 FG, 4-8 3PT) and a season-high nine assists to lead all players in both categories.

OG has career night, Knicks handle Nuggets 🗽

OG Anunoby was feeling it on Monday night in Denver, dropping a career-high 40 points (16-23 FG, 5-7 3PT, 3-3 FT), five rebounds and four assists as the Knicks cruised to victory. New York dished out a franchise-best 23 assists in the first half and ended the game with a franchise-tying 45 helpers overall.

Anunoby wasn’t the only one Knick in his bag, as Karl-Anthony Towns (30 points, 15 rebounds, four assists, three steals) and Jalen Brunson (23 points, three rebounds, 17 assists) all went off to lead a balanced attack. The trio combined to shoot 36-52 FG (69.2%) and 11-14 3PT (78.6%).


Isaiah 👉 Isaiah for 3️⃣

Hartenstein grabs the rebound and goes full court to Isaiah Joe for the transition three ball, his third on the night.

Deuce McBride reaches 1,000 career points 💪

McBride helped the Knicks get a big win in Denver with 13 points, six rebounds and three assists off the bench. Deuce was one of seven Knicks to score in double figures for New York, including two with 30+ points.

The Knicks tied a franchise record with 45 assists in the 145-118 victory over the Nuggets. They’ve won five of their last six games.


OG is going OFF 🤯

OG Anunoby and the Knicks have been on fire in Denver. The corner 3 gives him a career-high 38 points on 15-22 FG and 5-7 3PT. Karl-Anthony Towns is right behind him with 30 points of his own.

Sabonis dimes DeRozan for the jam 💥

Domantas Sabonis finds the cutting DeMar DeRozan for the dunk and the foul. DeMar has 17 first-half points on 8-10 FG to go with four assists.

Sacramento and Oklahoma City are locked in a tight battle out west as the Kings look to end their three-game skid against SGA and the Thunder. There have been 12 ties and 13 lead changes in this one as the game sits tied at 60 with 1:14 left in the half.

Curry drains his 3,800th career three-pointer in typical Steph fashion. Congratulations on another incredible career milestone!

Payton makes sure everyone eats 🍽️😋

Elfrid Payton was dropping dimes all over the court tonight, scoring 14 points, grabbing seven rebounds and dishing out a career-high 21 assists in the losing effort for New Orleans. Payton is the fourth player in franchise history to reach 20+ assists in a game, joining Chris Paul (3x), Darren Collison and Rajon Rondo.

Payton has stepped in and played incredibly well for the decimated Pelicans, especially considering he hasn’t played in the NBA since the 2021-22 season for the Phoenix Suns. The 21 assists are also an NBA season-high.


LaMelo makes Hornets history 📜

LaMelo Ball continued his historic stretch tonight, dropping 44 points, nine rebounds, seven assists and 4 3PM. Ball has scored 94 points in his last two games and 129 total points in his last three games. He becomes the first Hornets player to record three consecutive games of 35+ points.

The Hornets are 1-2 in those games and sit at 6-11 through the first month of the 2024-25 season.


Jaden Ivey calls game 😤

Jaden Ivey lifts the Pistons over the Raptors with this clutch bucket as time expired. Ivey finished with 25 points (10-13 FG, 2-4 3PT), five rebounds and eight assists to snap Detroit’s three-game losing streak.

Scottie Barnes was stellar in his second game back from an orbital fracture, posting a season-high 31 points (12-26 FG, 3-8 3PT), 14 rebounds – including seven offensive – and seven assists in almost 37 minutes.


Haliburton 👉 Mathurin 🎯

Tyrese Haliburton and Bennedict Mathurin connect on the lob, helping secure the 114-110 victory for the Pacers over the Pelicans. Hali finished the night with 34 points and 13 assists while splashing in a season-high nine 3s, matching New Orleans’ total on the night.

Elfrid Payton also went off in this one, scoring 14 points, grabbing seven rebounds and dishing out a career-high 21 assists in the losing effort. The 21 dimes are an NBA season-high, topping Trae Young’s 19 assists he posted on Nov. 18 against Sacramento.


LaMelo with 36 and counting 🔥

Make way for Morant 💪

Ja is cleared for takeoff on this heavy hammer in the second quarter. He has 17 points and six assists, both of which are game-highs.

Memphis has yet to trail in this game, but the Blazers have fought back to make it close towards the end of the half. The Grizzlies hold a 62-54 advantage with 36.1 seconds left in the second.


🔥 Showtime Hawks 🔥

Atlanta uses a 12-0 run at the end of the second quarter to take a 67-61 lead over Dallas at the break. This game has been back and forth all night with six ties and four lead changes. The Hawks continue to feast inside with 44 points in the paint, doubling the total for the Mavericks (22).

Brown hangs and hits the and-1 🤯

Jaylen Brown and the Celtics are off to a blazing start against the Clippers, putting up 78 points in the first half. Boston continues to be deadly from long distance, shooting 16-34 from three (47.1%). They knocked down 12 3s in the second quarter, tied for the most ever for a quarter in NBA history.

Tyrese Haliburton has 14 points and seven dimes at the half, including these four made 3s on nine attempts. Indiana goes into the break up 59-57.


Bogi with the flashy finish ✨✨

Bogdanović gets the steal and finishes with a crafty behind the back move. Atlanta has dominated early with 20 of their 31 points coming in the paint.

Atlanta holds a 31-28 lead at the end of the first quarter after Dallas finished on a 10-0 run.


Moussa Diabaté with the rejection 🚫

Anthony Black rises up and gets denied by Moussa with authority. He has two points, two rebounds, a steal and two blocks in nine minutes off the bench for Charlotte. It’s been a low-scoring affair so far as the Hornets hold a 35-28 lead with just under six minutes remaining in the half.

Jarace Walker Shake ‘n Bake 🔥

Walker hits Daniel Theis with a nasty move and blows by him for the emphatic slam. The third year man out of Houston has seen his role increase this year due to injuries to Indiana’s frontcourt, and he’s making the most of those added opportunities.

Hornets fans can get used to seeing this for years to come.

Brandon Miller has been on a heater over his last three games, scoring 29 at Brooklyn, a career-high 38 in a win over Detroit, and 32 on Saturday against Milwaukee. In those three games, he knocked down 19-34 3PT, good for 55.9% during that span.

Pistons set to host Raptors 🏀

Detroit goes to work against the visiting Raptors without Cade Cunningham, who will miss his second consecutive game due to a left sacroiliac joint sprain in his hip. The Pistons have lost three in a row, bringing their record to 7-11.

Jaden Ivey has played well in his third season with averages of 18.1 points, 4.6 rebounds and 4.2 assists in 32 minutes per contest. He’ll step in as the focal point of the offense with no Cade.


Kyrie ready to go to work 😤

Dallas will again be without Luka Dončić when they face off against the Atlanta Hawks tonight. Kyrie Irving has helped steady the ship with Luka out, leading the Mavericks to wins over the Thunder and Nuggets over the last week.

James Harden and the LA Clippers pay a visit to the defending champion Boston Celtics. Both teams enter tonight with five-game winning streaks.

CJ McCollum ready to roll 🏀

The New Orleans Pelicans will get a much needed boost with the return of CJ McCollum. McCollum has missed the last 13 games with a right adductor strain, and tonight will be his first game since October 29.

New Orleans has lost four straight, sitting at 4-13 on the season.


📝 Top Storylines of the Night 📝

  1. Kristaps Porziņģis is scheduled to make his season debut tonight when the Boston Celtics host the surging LA Clippers. Porziņģis’s return gives the defending champs another weapon on both ends of the floor after he averaged 20.1 points, 7.2 rebounds and 1.9 blocks per game in 57 games last season. Boston will be rocking with KP back as they go for a sixth consecutive win.
  2. The Memphis Grizzlies are also expected to have Ja Morant back in the lineup tonight when they welcome the Portland Trailblazers to town. Morant has missed the last eight games for Memphis with a hip injury, but the Grizz have played well in his absence, going 5-3 in the contests without him. Ja is averaging 20.6 points, 5.0 rebounds and 9.1 assists this season (eight games played).
  3. The LA Clippers take on the Celtics with their five-game winning streak on the line. This matchup has a chance to be tight defensively, as both LA (5th) and Boston (10th) currently rank inside the top ten for defensive rating in 2024-25.
