Below are the most notable NBA players born on August 11.

Patty Mills (1988)

There’s been an Australian renaissance in the NBA over recent years, and Mills has been a driving factor behind it. This sharpshooter is one of the greatest Aussies in NBA history. Selected 55th overall in the 2009 NBA Draft by the Trail Blazers, he spent just two years in Portland before finding a home with the San Antonio Spurs in 2011. Mills spent the next decade there, establishing himself as one of the best bench scorers in the NBA.

The 2013-14 season was his breakout campaign as he finished 13th in Sixth Man of the Year voting while helping the Spurs win a title. He finished eighth in Sixth Man of the Year voting just three years later and then averaged a career-high 11.6 points per game in the 2019-20 season. Mills only spent one more year with the Spurs after that, and has suited up with the Brooklyn Nets, Atlanta Hawks, Miami Heat, Utah Jazz and Los Angeles Clippers since then. His 921 games played are the highest total by any Aussie in NBA history.
