Below are the most notable NBA players born on April 13.
Baron Davis (1979)
Davis was a fan favorite of whatever team he played for, carving out a solid 13-year career. It all started when the Charlotte Hornets selected him third overall in the 1999 NBA Draft out of UCLA. Davis made his first All-Star appearance in his third year, and his best season was his final full year with the Hornets in 2003-04, averaging a career-high 22.9 points and 2.4 steals with 4.3 rebounds and 7.5 assists per game. That steal total led the league, and Davis finished 10th in MVP voting while making his final All-Star appearance.
Golden State acquired him the following season, with Davis spending the next four years with the Warriors. He led the league in steals once again in 2007 (2.1 spg), finishing 15th in MVP voting for that surprise Dubs team. Davis played three seasons for the Los Angeles Clippers starting in 2008-09 before closing things out with the New York Knicks and Cleveland Cavaliers. He officially retired in 2012, averaging 16.1 points, 3.8 rebounds, 7.2 assists and 1.8 steals throughout his 13-year career.
Quentin Richardson (1980)
Richardson and Davis crossed paths throughout their NBA tenures, with “Q-Rich” enjoying a 13-year career between 2000 and 2013. The swingman was the 18th overall pick in the 2000 NBA Draft by the Los Angeles Clippers, spending his first four years with that organization. He finished third in Sixth Man of the Year voting in his sophomore season but really broke out in his final year with the Clips in 2003-04, when Richardson averaged a career-high 17.2 points, 6.4 rebounds, 2.1 assists and 1.0 steals per game.
Richardson joined the Phoenix Suns in 2004-05 but only spent one year there before being traded to the New York Knicks the following summer. He spent four years in the Big Apple before a couple small stints with the Miami Heat and Orlando Magic. He rejoined the Knicks in 2012-13, his final season before officially retiring. Q-Rich averaged 10.3 points, 4.7 rebounds, 1.5 assists and 0.8 steals throughout his 13 seasons in the league.
