The Minnesota Timberwolves have had some stellar scorers play for the franchise. They currently have one of the best scorers in the league in Anthony Edwards. Let’s highlight their top five all-time single-season points-per-game leaders.
1. Anthony Edwards, 2024-25, 27.6 Points Per Game
The Timberwolves selected Edwards with the first pick in the 2020 Draft. He finished second in the Rookie of the Year voting in 2020-21, averaging 19.3 points, 4.7 rebounds, 2.9 assists and 2.4 three-pointers per game. He made his first All-Star team in 2022-23, finishing the season with an average of 24.6 points per game. The Timberwolves changed the direction of the franchise prior to the 2024-25 season, dealing Karl-Anthony Towns to the Knicks. That left Edwards as the undisputed top scoring option on the team.
He ramped up his three-point shooting in the 2024-25 season, leading the league in threes made (320) by knocking down 4.1 per game on his way to a new career-high in scoring.
2. Kevin Love, 2013-14, 26.1 Points Per Game
Love spent the first six seasons of his career with the Timberwolves. He became a full-time starter for the 2010-11 season and he immediately made the All-Star team. He averaged 20.2 points and 15.2 rebounds on his way to winning the Most Improved Player Award. His best scoring season came in 2013-14 when he averaged 26.1 points per game. He also averaged 12.5 rebounds and a career-high 4.4 assists per game. That would end up being Love’s final season with the Timberwolves as he was traded to the Cavaliers in August 2014.
3. Kevin Love, 2011-12, 26.0 Points Per Game
Love made his second career All-Star team in 2011-12, averaging 26.0 points and 13.3 rebounds per game. He finished sixth in MVP voting, marking the only time in his career that he finished inside the top-10 for the award. The Timberwolves leaned heavily on him that season, leaving him to average 39 minutes per game.
4. Anthony Edwards, 2023-24, 25.9 Points Per Game
Edwards shot 46.1% from the field in 2023-24, which has been the highest mark of his career. He also made significant improvements with his efficiency at the free-throw line. After shooting no more than 78.6% from the charity stripe in each of his first three seasons, Edward shot 83.6% in 2023-24. With his overall averages of 25.9 points, 5.4 rebounds and 5.1 assists per game, Edwards finished seventh in MVP voting.
5. Karl-Anthony Towns, 2016-17, 25.1 Points Per Game
The Timberwolves selected Towns with the first pick in the 2015 Draft. He won the Rookie of the Year Award and would go on to make four All-Star teams with the franchise. Following his rookie season, he dominated by averaging 25.1 points and playing in all 82 games in 2016-17. That began a streak of eight straight seasons with the Timberwolves in which Towns averaged at least 20.8 points per game. Across 573 regular season games with the franchise, Towns averaged 22.9 points and shot 52.4% from the field.
