Jalen Brunson scored 30 points this afternoon, helping the Knicks beat the Magic 106-100 to kick off Sunday’s NBA action.
What we know about Sunday’s games:
- The Knicks moved to 13-1 at home and 16-7 overall with a matinee victory over the Magic at MSG. The battle featured two of the titans of the East, with the New York right behind the Pistons at No. 2, and Orlando quickly climbing into the role of expected contenders in the conference. Unfortunately, the Magic didn’t just lose the game; they also lost Franz Wagner in the first quarter to a lower-leg injury, and he was unable to return.
- The Celtics remain one of the hottest teams in the Association, downing the Raptors 121-113. The win is their fifth, while they’ve also won eight of their last 10 games.
- The Lakers stars shone in Philadelphia, helping earn a 112-08 victory. LeBron James scored 10 straight points to ice the game, and Luka Dončić posted a triple-double.
- Oklahoma City’s mountain of victories grows larger, as they added their 15th straight, with a 131-101 win over the Jazz. Their record now moves to a league-best, 23-1.

Dynamic duo does damage
The Nuggets finished strong, beating the Hornets 115-106.
At the forefront of their success was none other than Jamal Murray and Nikola Jokić.
Murray was hot out of the gate, scoring 23 first-quarter points, before finishing with 34 on 14-for-25 shooting, with 3 boards and 5 assists.
Jokić just missed the triple-double, pouring in 28 points, with 9 boards, and 11 dimes.

Triple barrage
Oklahoma City is morphing into an unstoppable machine. One man goes down, another steps up, and tonight it’s Branden Carlson raining triples, 3-for-3 to be exact, for 11 points.

Train coming through
LeBron James was questionable for tonight, but he suited up, so he could throw it down.
He goes all gas to the rim and rises for the signature and ferocious one-handed jam.

Riding the wave
It hasn’t been an overly eventful half for the Bulls, who are trailing the Warriors 60-46 at the break.
However, that didn’t stop Matas Buzelis from going coast-to-coast and delivering this thunderous poster dunk.

The Bulls should be able to get right back into the game, though, if they can slow down the Warriors’ long-range shooting, after they converted 12 of 25 attempts in the first half.

Let the Luka show begin
Luka Dončić is back like he never left (for two games), and is already churning out the highlights like this nifty fadeaway off the spin.

The Warriors came out to play
Golden State is still without key pieces like Stephen Curry (quadriceps) and Draymond Green (foot), but they’re not letting that stop them in Chicago.
They’ve jumped out to a 23-10 lead over the Bulls at the midpoint of the first quarter, backed by Quentin Post’s 9-point effort.
Ball movement and effort like this also help.

Grizzlies in control
Memphis has been all over Portland, jumping out to a 20-point lead in the first quarter and maintaining it since.
Their bench has been a big part of that surge, providing 35 of their 66 first-half points.
Here they work together, first by Kentavious Caldwell-Pope creating the steal, while Santi Aldama takes it down and buries a pull-up triple.

Celtics earn fifth straight
Boston is on a roll, and with a 121-113 win over the Raptors, remains 8-2 in their last 10 and moves to 15-9 on the season.
Brown remained the team’s top scorer, getting his 13th 30-point or more game of the season, adding 8 rebounds, and 5 assists.
White was also clutch down the stretch, finishing with 27 points and calmly nailing this nearly logo triple in the final minutes to keep the Raptors at bay.

Raptors roar to life
Toronto was down 18 at the half and could not slow down the Celtics, but switched that up out of the break.
They managed to hold Boston to 20 third-quarter points and pull within six, 97-91.
Of course, they did that with defense, while staying relentless on offense, which can be encapsulated in this play, where Scottie Barnes forces a steal and Ochai Agbaji stays with it, until he got the bucket.

Blazing into halftime
The Celtics’ offense has been firing on all cylinders, following up a 34-point first quarter with a 43-point frame in the second for a 77-59 halftime lead.
At the root of the barrage has been their elite 3-point shooting, nailing 12 of their 27 long-distance tries, including 57% of their field-goal attempts.
At the top of the scoreboard is Jaylen Brown, with 17 points, 5 rebounds, and 3 assists. Just behind him is Derrick White, who’s tallied 16, plus 3 assists, and 2 blocks.

OG Anunoby was also a force, canning 5 of his 7 triple tries, for 21 points, while adding 7 boards, and 3 steals, while Karl-Anthony-Towns (calf) was sidelined.
With Paolo Banchero still working his way back from injury and limited on minutes, the early departure of Franz Wagner (leg) was another brutal hand dealt to Orlando, which struggled to find offense and hit just 38% of its field-goal attempts.
