Big defensive effort in loss to Blazers

The second-year forward collected his first steals of the season while posting three blocks for the third time in six games to begin the campaign. Bailey's skills are growing quickly, and so far in 2026-27 the fifth overall pick in the 2025 NBA Draft is averaging 13.3 points, 7.8 boards, 2.2 assists, 1.8 blocks and 1.5 threes in 31.0 minutes while shooting an impressive 50.0 percent from the floor.

Leading scorer in Saturday's loss

The 16 points led the Jazz on the afternoon, as only two of his teammates even scored in double digits. Peterson is quickly getting the hang of this NBA thing after being the second overall pick in the 2026 Draft, scoring at least 14 points in four of the last five games while averaging 14.2 points, 4.4 boards, 2.8 assists, 2.0 threes and 1.2 steals, but his 35.2 percent shooting during that stretch indicates he still has plenty to work on.

Struggles in return

Markkanen didn't play in Wednesday's 117-111 loss to San Antonio. He was back on the floor Saturday, though it wasn't his most efficient shooting performance. The 2017 No. 7 overall pick hasn't played the best in his five regular-season appearances in 2026-27, averaging just 15.4 points. However, Markkanen has proven he can be one of the most productive players in the league, so there's reason to believe he will get on track at some point.
