Progressing in ACL rehab
With VanVleet having missed the entire 2025-26 campaign after suffering a torn ACL late last offseason, it's encouraging to hear he's back on the court as a notable step in his recovery. The veteran point guard is almost a full calendar year removed from the surgery, so there's optimism he'll be ready for Opening Night in late October. His levels of participation in training camp and the preseason remain a question mark, though.

Agrees to five-year extension
The deal will include a 10 percent trade kicker. An extension always seemed inevitable, as Thompson's two-way upside is through the roof. Across 79 regular-season appearances in 2025-26, he averaged 18.3 points, 7.8 rebounds, 5.3 assists and 1.5 steals.

Signs with Rockets
Castro is coming off an impressive season for George Washington, posting averages of 15.3 points, 9.1 rebounds, 1.8 steals, 1.7 blocks and 1.7 assists across 27.3 minutes per game. He is expected to play a prominent role for Houston's G League affiliate to open the campaign.
