Full name is Simone Fontecchio…name is pronounce see-MOW-nay fawn-TECH-ee-oh…answers to the nicknames “Simo” and “Tek”…is the son of Daniele and Mali Fontecchio…he and his wife, Rosa, are the parents to a pair of daughters (Bianca and Luna)…his mother, Mali Pomilio, played basketball for the Italian National Team from 1983-89 and won two European titles for AS Vicenza…his father, Daniele, was a professional Italian hurdler who won silver in the 60-meter hurdles at the 1986 European Indoor Championships and in the 110-meter hurdles at the 1985 European Cup, along with 10 national championships at the Italian individual senior level…his dad also participated for Italy in the 110-meter hurdles at the 1984 Olympic Games in Los Angeles…credits his grandfather, Vittorio Pomilio, as the person that made a difference in his life calling him the best person he ever met…his grandfather played for the Italian National Team in basketball from 1957-60…in his free time he enjoys watching sports and shows, reading books and traveling…his favorite sport other than basketball is soccer and he’s a fan of Inter Milan…is one of just 12 Italian-born players in NBA history…has an endorsement deal with Nike…wears size 14 sneakers.
