2018-19 COLLEGE NOTES: Named Pac-12 Freshman of the Year, All-Pac-12 Second Team, Pac-12 All-Defense and Pac-12 All-Freshman. Joined Jahii Carson (2012-13), Ike Diogu (2002-03), Jamal Faulkner (1990-91) and Byron Scott (1979-80) as the only Sun Devils to win FOY. Along with teammate Zylan Cheatham, become just the third and fourth Sun Devils to earn a spot on the All-Defense team. His 53 points in his first two college games were the third-most by a Pac-12 freshman in his first two career games since 1996-97 and only Markelle Fultz (65 in 2016-17) and Tajuan Porter (55 in 2006-07) had more in the last 23 seasons. Ranked fourth in the Pac-12 and led all freshmen in total steals with his 52. Ranked sixth in the conference in points scored.

The best moment of his career was scoring a career-high 42 points at the Utah Jazz on April 13, 2021.
