Played four seasons at West Virginia (2014-18), leaving as one of college basketball’s most accomplished defensive players and leading the Mountaineers to four-straight finishes in the AP Top 25 for the first time since the Jerry West era. Winner of the inaugural Naismith Defensive Player of the Year Award in 2017-18 after ranking second in the nation in steals per game (3.0). In both his junior and senior seasons, won the following awards to become a two-time winner of each: Lefty Driesell Award (Defensive Player of the Year), National Association of Basketball Coaches (NABC) Defensive Player of the Year, Big 12 Defensive Player of the Year. Appeared in 144 games (112 starts) for the Mountaineers, averaging 12.2 ppg, 3.7 rpg, 3.9 apg and 2.3 spg in 29.6 mpg while shooting .407 from the floor, .355 from three-point range and .798 percent from the foul line. West Virginia’s all-time leader in total steals (330). Voted Big 12 All-Defensive Team all four of his seasons, the only player ever to do so.
