Rajaković has been the Raptors’ head coach since 2023.
The Toronto Raptors announced Thursday that they have agreed to a multi-year extension with head coach Darko Rajaković. As per team policy, terms of the deal were not released. This past season, Rajaković guided the Raptors to a 46-36 record, improving by 16 wins over the previous season, and the fifth seed in the Eastern Conference.
“We’re thrilled to extend Darko as head coach of the Toronto Raptors. Darko’s strong development philosophy and commitment to a team-first culture shine through on a daily basis,” Raptors general manager and executive vice-president Bobby Webster said. “We’ve seen these qualities play out on the court – our team plays hard, plays together, and fights until the end. Darko knows there’s more to be done, and we’re looking forward to seeing the continued growth of this team.”
Rajaković began his coaching career at age 16 with the Borac Cacak Youth Team in Serbia before spending eight years with Red Star Belgrade. He later coached in Spain, while also serving as a European scouting consultant and summer league assistant for the San Antonio Spurs. In 2012, he joined the Oklahoma City Thunder organization as head coach of the Tulsa 66ers, becoming the first non–North American-born head coach in NBA G League history, before spending five seasons as a Thunder assistant coach. Rajaković later served as an assistant coach with the Phoenix Suns and Memphis Grizzlies before being named the 10th head coach of the Toronto Raptors in June 2023.
“I’m proud of the progress we’ve made, but our team knows there is still a lot of work to do, and I am looking forward to continuing to build and win with the Raptors. We will keep growing, keep working together and stay committed to getting better every day as we reach for our goal of an NBA Championship,” Rajaković said. “I’m grateful to Bobby, to MLSE and the board of directors, to my coaching staff and especially to the players.”
Rajaković has posted a 101-145 record (.411) during the regular season in his three seasons at the helm of the Raptors (2023-26). This past year, he coached the World Team at the 2026 NBA All-Star Game in Los Angeles and with the Raptors’ victory Apr. 9 against Miami, became just the fifth coach in franchise history to reach 100 wins.
