The Denver Nuggets have seen plenty of impressive scoring performances during their franchise history. Let’s highlight their top five all-time single-season points-per-game leaders.


1. Spencer Haywood, 1969-70, 30.0 Points Per Game

Haywood played one season for the Denver Rockets in the ABA. He burst onto the scene by making the All-Star team, winning the Rookie of the Year Award and being named the league MVP of the 1969-70 season. He led the league not only in points per game with 30.0, but he also led the league by averaging 19.5 rebounds per game. The next season, he joined the Seattle SuperSonics in the NBA.

2. Alex English, 1985-86, 29.8 Points Per Game

English took his career to another level after being traded from the Pacers to the Nuggets. He made eight All-Star teams as a member of the franchise and had his best single season scoring performance during the 1985-86 campaign when he averaged 29.8 points per game. That ranked third in the NBA behind Dominique Wilkins (30.3) and Adrian Dantley (29.8). English had plenty of impressive scoring seasons during his career, including when he led the league in scoring by averaging 28.4 points per game during the 1982-83 season.

3. Nikola Jokić, 2024-25, 29.6 Points Per Game

The Joker raised his scoring game in his 10th NBA season, setting a career-high with 29.6 points per game. He shot 42% from three-point range, making 2.0 per game for the first time in his NBA career, stretching the floor for Denver’s cutters and slashers.

Jokić also averaged a triple-double for the first time, adding 10.2 assists per game.

3. Kiki Vandeweghe, 1983-84, 29.4 Points Per Game

Vandeweghe spent his first four seasons in the NBA as a member of the Nuggets. He made his first All-Star team during the 1982-83 season. The next season, he made another All-Star team while averaging 29.4 points per game, which would end up being the highest mark of his career. His average of 29.4 points per game ranked third in the NBA behind Adrian Dantley (30.6) and Mark Aguirre (29.5).

4. Carmelo Anthony, 2006-07, 28.9 Points Per Game

The Nuggets selected Anthony with the third pick in the 2003 Draft. He played seven full seasons for the Nuggets before being traded to the Knicks during the 2010-11 season. His most proficient offensive season came in 2006-07 when he averaged 28.9 points per game. That ranked second in the NBA behind Kobe Bryant (31.6). That season also marked the first time that Anthony was selected to be an All-Star. Anthony made four All-Star teams during his tenure with the Nuggets and averaged 24.8 points over 564 regular-season games with the team.
