Top 5 all-time Brooklyn Nets playoff appearances

Who holds the record for the most playoff games in Nets franchise history?

Jason Kidd and Richard Jefferson are among the top 5 leaders for playoff games in Nets franchise history.

The Brooklyn Nets are in the midst of their sixth decade of play and have had their fair share of playoff runs, many dating back to their time in New Jersey. Here’s a look at the five players that have participated in the most postseason games during team history:

1. Richard Jefferson, 2001-08 (78 games)

Richard Jefferson and Jason Kidd, who share the top spot on this list, were crucial to the Nets’ six playoff runs during their seven-season tenures. This span included consecutive Eastern Conference titles in the 2001-02 and 2002-03 campaigns. As a rookie, Jefferson played a modest role in the first title run but averaged between 14.1 and a career playoff-high 22.2 points per game in the subsequent five postseasons.

1. Jason Kidd, 2001-08 (78 games)

Jason Kidd was already a star when he joined New Jersey before the 2001-02 season and became instrumental in the team’s postseason success. During his first Nets playoff run, Kidd averaged 19.6 points, 9.1 assists, 8.2 rebounds, and 1.7 steals . He followed this with a career playoff-high 20.1 points per game during the Nets’ second-straight Eastern Conference title run. While his scoring fluctuated in later postseasons, Kidd’s elite facilitating (7.6 to 10.9 assists per game across five playoff runs) remained a consistent asset.

3. Jason Collins, 2001-08 (75 games)

Jason Collins played alongside Jefferson and Kidd during the Nets’ six playoff appearances but served more as a complementary piece. The big man never averaged more than 5.9 points per playoff game but contributed between 5.0 and a career playoff-best 6.5 rebounds per game during three postseasons (2003, 2005, 2006).

4. Lucious Harris, 1997-2004 (54 games)

Lucious Harris didn’t garner his first taste of the postseason until arriving in New Jersey ahead of the 1997-98 season. The 1993 second-round pick of the Mavericks played in his first three playoff games that postseason with minimal impact, but he would go on to play a bigger role in subsequent playoff runs. Harris averaged double-digit points (10.5 and 10.7 PPG) in two postseason series, with the former coming on 51.1% shooting during the 2002 Eastern Conference Finals six-game victory over the Celtics.

4. Kerry Kittles, 1996-2004 (54 games)

Kerry Kittles, following a standout college career at Villanova, enjoyed a nine-year NBA stint and participated in four Nets playoff runs. His last three postseason campaigns overlapped with those of Jefferson and Kidd. Kittles made the most of these opportunities, averaging 12.3 points, 3.6 rebounds, 2.1 assists, and 1.6 steals over 32.1 minutes per game across his 54 playoff appearances.
