Jaylen Brown, LeBron James, Joel Embiid, Tyrese Maxey and VJ Edgecombe will get their first taste of preseason action as teammates on Thursday against Brooklyn.
Fans will get their first preseason glimpse of LeBron James in a Philadelphia 76ers uniform, as ESPN’s Dave McMenamin reported Philadelphia expects to play its starters — James, Joel Embiid, Tyrese Maxey, Jaylen Brown and VJ Edgecombe — in its preseason matchup against the Brooklyn Nets on Thursday.
James, Embiid and Maxey were healthy scratches in the 76ers’ preseason opener against the New York Knicks, but 76ers head coach Nick Nurse told reporters he hoped to roll out his starting unit for first-half action vs. Brooklyn barring any setbacks heading into Thursday’s game.
Brown wasted no time getting acclimated in his 76ers preseason debut on Monday, scoring 22 points in 17 minutes in a 120-97 win over the defending champions. Edgecombe added 12 points and seven assists in 20 minutes of action.
The 76ers added both James and Brown in the offseason — James via free agency and Brown via a trade with the Boston Celtics — to go along with former Kia MVP Embiid, two-time All-Star Maxey and 2026 Kia All-Rookie First Team guard Edgecombe to form a star-studded starting unit and boost Philly into title contention.
