NBA Fantasy - Salary Cap Edition: Updates for the 2025-26 Season

Make sure to get caught up on all the updates for the 2025-26 season of NBA Fantasy - Salary Cap Edition.

Victor Wembanyama enters the season as a top target in fantasy drafts.

The NBA continues to evolve, and in light of your input from last season, it’s time for us to evolve too.

We’ve made some improvements to the game so that you can better enjoy your experience as a fantasy general manager.

Here are some new aspects of NBA Fantasy – Salary Cap Edition entering Season 3:

Scoring

The decimal-point system has been replaced with whole numbers for each statistic. With this change, it’s easier for you to see how game actions translate to points for your team.

We don’t expect you to be a mathematician, but we do want to keep the game simple enough for anyone – basketball savants and casual fans alike.

The new scoring system is as follows:

  • 1 point = 1 fantasy point
  • 1 rebound = 1 fantasy point
  • 1 assist = 2 fantasy points
  • 1 block = 3 fantasy points
  • 1 steal = 3 fantasy points
  • 1 turnover = 0 fantasy points

Just as was the case last season, blocks and steals are most valuable, and big numbers in those departments can be a big boost for your team. Points and rebounds remain on a one-to-one scale.

Notably, turnovers now have no effect on your score. We believe that will help even the point spread between front court and back court players.

Building your team

It can be overwhelming to sift through the hundreds of NBA players and choose 10 to build your team with. To ease the drafting process, you can now structure your roster around one star.

General managers can choose from six of the most expensive players for the 2025-26 season:

But you don’t have to build around one of these players. If you wish to build the entire team yourself, then you can click “skip” and proceed with your draft.

Captain selections and points page

Both the use of your captain’s chip and the “points” tab have been simplified to make the game more accessible for anyone looking to get involved.

App placement

Players outside the US and Canada can now access NBA Fantasy – Salary Cap Edition on the NBA app. Go to the “Latest” page and scroll down to see the NBA Fantasy Salary Cap banner. There, click “Play Now” to be redirected to the login page and begin building your roster.

Alternatively, all fans can go to the “discover” tab and scroll down to “fantasy and gaming.” There, you can click “salary cap game” and will automatically be redirected to the login page.

Additionally, a new fantasy hub has been added. If you play the game through the app, you’ll have access to content on how to play, weekly updates and other stories during the season. You can also sign up for push notifications sent by our team.

Prizing

Prizes will be offered in select markets this season with fans in certain European countries eligible to win a trip for two to the NBA Paris Game in the 2026-27 season as well as NBA Store vouchers each week through the season. You can learn about those rewards here*.

Local laws restrict us from offering prizes in all countries, but there’s always fun to be had when you’re competing against players as near as your neighborhood or as far as overseas.

Participation in the prize league is only available to legal residents of Austria, Belgium, Czechia, Denmark, Finland, Germany, Greece, Hungary, Ireland, Netherlands, Norway, Portugal, Serbia, Spain, Switzerland, and the United Kingdom.
