Yuki Kawamura is among the players whose birthdays fall on May. 2.
With over 5,000 players in NBA history, at least one player was born on every day of the calendar year – including three leap day ballers. Our day-by-day breakdown of the players born on each day of the year continues.
Below are the most notable NBA players born on May 2.
Paul George (1990): “PG-13” is one of the smoothest players of this generation and is likely on his way to a Hall of Fame induction. It all started when George was the 10th pick in the 2010 NBA Draft by the Indiana Pacers. It took George two years to get going, but he took down Most Improved Player in 2013. That was also George’s first of nine All-Star appearances, finishing All-NBA six times as well. His defense might be his most underrated asset, with George finishing Top 8 in Defensive Player of the Year voting eight times. The first four All-Star appearances were in his first seven seasons in Indiana, making another two in his two years with the Oklahoma City Thunder. He snatched three more in five years with the LA Clippers and joined the Philadelphia 76ers in the 2025 season.
Jamaal Wilkes (1953): “Silk” was the 11th overall pick in the 1974 NBA Draft by the Golden State Warriors. That proved to be one of the biggest steals in NBA history, with Wilkes taking down Rookie of the Year in a remarkable debut season. He followed that up with an All-Star appearance in his sophomore season, but he only played three years in Golden State. Wilkes joined the Los Angeles Lakers in 1977 and played seven of his final eight seasons there. He made two more All-Star appearances in L.A. and finished 10th in MVP voting in 1981. That was a career year for the forward, averaging 22.6 points, 5.4 rebounds, 2.9 assists and 1.5 steals per game. Not only did he win a ring with the 1975 Golden State Warriors, but he won three more with the Lakers in 1980, 1982 and 1985. He officially retired in 1986, averaging 17.7 points, 6.2 rebounds, 2.5 assists and 1.3 steals throughout his Hall of Fame career.
