Known as one of the faces of the league, Jayson Tatum is among the most notable NBA players born on March 3.

With over 5,000 players in NBA history, at least one player was born on every day of the calendar year – including four Leap Day ballers. Our day-by-day breakdown of the players born on each day of the year continues.

Below is the most notable NBA player born on March 3.

Jayson Tatum (1998)

Not many players have accomplished as much as Tatum over the last decade. It all started when the Boston Celtics selected him third overall in the 2017 NBA Draft out of Duke. Tatum finished third in Rookie of the Year voting in 2018, but his ascension to stardom began in his third season.

Starting in 2019-20, ‘JT’ earned his first of six straight All-Star appearances, and finished in the top 6 in MVP voting in each of the last four years, from 2021-22 to 2024-25. During that same span, Tatum has garnered All-NBA First Team honors four consecutive times. He also won an All-Star MVP in 2023, but his biggest accomplishment came in 2024. Tatum was one of the best players for a Celtics team that finished with the best record and won an NBA title in dominant fashion in 2023-24.
