Dick McGuire (1926)
“Tricky Dick” is one of the best nicknames in NBA history, but this guy earned it as one of the best passers of his generation. McGuire was the eighth overall pick in the 1949 NBA Draft, spending his first eight seasons with the New York Knicks. He made his first of seven All-Star appearances in his sophomore season, establishing himself as one of the best point guards of his era. McGuire closed his career with three years in Detroit, retiring in 1960 as a Piston.
Throughout his 11-year career, McGuire averaged 8.0 points, 4.2 rebounds and 5.7 assists per game. Those statistics might not jump off the page, but he finished Top 20 in assists in all 11 years of his career. That earned McGuire a Hall-of-Fame induction in 1993.
Chris Mills (1970)
Mills was the 22nd overall pick in the 1993 NBA Draft by the Cleveland Cavaliers. This forward spent his first four seasons with the Cavs, averaging 12.6 points, 5.4 rebounds, 2.1 assists and 0.9 steals per game. He joined the New York Knicks for one year in 1997 but had a resurgence when he was traded to the Golden State Warriors in 1999.
Mills averaged a career-high 16.1 points, 6.2 rebounds, 2.4 assists and 0.9 steals in 2000 with Golden State. He closed his career in 2004.
