Dillon Brooks (1996)
Brooks has a big personality and he backs it up with his hard-nosed play. It all started when he was a stud for the Oregon Ducks throughout his college career, earning him the 45th overall pick in the 2017 NBA Draft. He spent his first six seasons with the Memphis Grizzlies and really became an important piece for them in his third year. Between 2019 and 2023, Brooks averaged 16.2 points, 3.2 rebounds, 2.4 assists and 1.0 steals per game.
Statistics don’t tell the whole story when it comes to a player like this because his grittiness is what really makes him such a dangerous player. That’s why Houston signed him two years ago, and he continues to be one of the best defenders in the NBA for the Rockets.
Quintin Dailey (1961)
Dailey was the seventh overall pick in the 1982 NBA Draft by the Chicago Bulls. The guard spent his first four seasons with the Bulls, finishing sixth in Sixth Man of the Year voting in his third season. He joined the Los Angeles Clippers in 1986 and played there for three years. That seven-year stretch was the best period of Dailey’s career, averaging 15.3 points, 2.7 rebounds, 2.5 assists and 1.0 steals with Chicago and LA. Dailey closed his career with three seasons in Seattle before retiring in 1992.
