All-NBA Third Team guard and NBA All-Star Tyrese Haliburton headlines our Feb. 29 birthday celebrations.
With over 5,000 players in NBA history, at least one player was born on every day of the calendar year – including four Leap Day ballers. Our day-by-day breakdown of the players born on each day of the year continues.
Below is the most notable player born on Leap Day (Feb. 29)
Tyrese Haliburton (2000)
Of the four NBA players to have ever been born on Leap Day, Tyrese Haliburton has quickly established himself as the most accomplished of the bunch. The Iowa State product began his career with the Kings but was sent to the Pacers as part of a big-time trade that included Domantas Sabonis going to Sacramento.
Haliburton has become a centerpiece of the Pacers’ core of the mid-2020s. He made the All-Star team in his first full season in Indiana and earned that distinction again in 2024 while leading the league with 10.9 assists per game. Haliburton has led the Pacers on some notable playoff runs early in his tenure, with an Eastern Conference Finals berth in 2024 and a trip to the NBA Finals in 2025.
