Larry Drew (1958)
“The Landlord” was the 17th overall pick in the 1980 NBA Draft by the Detroit Pistons, carving out a solid 10-year career. He only spent his rookie season with the Pistons before breaking out as a member of the Sacramento Kings in his second season in 1982. The following year, Drew averaged a career-best 20.1 points and 8.1 assists with 2.8 rebounds and 1.7 steals, finishing 18th in MVP voting.
Drew was one of the best point guards in the NBA over the next five years, playing his final season with the Kings in 1986. Drew closed his career with two separate two-year stints with the Los Angeles Clippers (‘86-’88) and Lakers (‘89-’91) before officially retiring in 1991. He immediately became a coach the following season and is still an assistant today.
Pascal Siakam (1994)
Siakam has been one of the best late first-rounders over the last decade after being drafted 27th overall by the Toronto Raptors in the 2016 NBA Draft. Siakam took home the Most Improved Player Award in 2019, the same year he won a title with the Raptors. That was the start of something special, with Siakam making his first All-Star appearance the following season.
Siakam also finished 10th in MVP voting while being Second-Team All-NBA in 2019-20. He made Third-Team All-NBA in 2021-22 and earned his second All-Star appearance in 2023. That was his final season in Toronto, with the versatile big man being traded to the Indiana Pacers. Siakam was a key part of the Pacers’ run to the 2025 NBA Finals, averaging 20.5 points and 6.3 rebounds during that postseason.
