Rookie fourth overall pick Stephon Castle’s game-high 22 points led the San Antonio Spurs to an 83-77 win over the Portland Trail Blazers in an NBA 2K25 Summer League battle at Thomas and Mack Center in Las Vegas on Saturday night.
The Spurs came out of the gates hot and never let up during a dominant first half, doubling up a 10-point first-quarter lead by halftime. The Trail Blazers’ offense finally came to life in the third quarter after scoring just 31 combined points over the first two periods, but they were only able to cut two points from their deficit. Portland limited San Antonio to 10 fourth-quarter points, however, making the final score much more respectable. The game was a turnover-filled affair, as the two clubs combined for 42.
Castle complemented his aforementioned scoring total with five rebounds, four assists and one steal. Nathan Mensah delivered a 12-point, 10-rebound double-double that included two steals. Jamaree Bouyea supplied 11 points, six assists, two rebounds, four steals and four blocks. Rookie second-round pick Harrison Ingram and Sidy Cissoko generated matching eight-point, five-rebound efforts while adding three and two steals, respectively.
Alex Reese paced the Blazers with 16 points, adding three rebounds, two blocks and one steal. Rayan Rupert followed with 13 points, supplementing them with six rebounds, five assists and two steals. Justin Minaya furnished 12 points, three assists, two rebounds, four steals and one block. No. 7 overall pick Donovan Clingan mustered just four points but also recorded a game-high 13 rebounds and five blocks, along with one assist and one steal.
The Spurs next take the floor Sunday night against the Atlanta Hawks, while the Trail Blazers face the Philadelphia 76ers on Monday night.
