NEW YORK – Drifting Dunes Media Art Productions announced today that its award-winning feature documentary Mount Mutombo will hold its New York premiere on October 29, 2025 at the historic Beacon Theatre, with support from the NBA.
Directed and produced by Dina Khreino, Mount Mutombo is an intimate and moving portrait of the late Dikembe Mutombo — NBA legend, humanitarian, and global ambassador — whose towering presence on and off the court inspired generations. The film traces his journey from Kinshasa, DRC, to the world stage, revealing a man whose compassion, humility, and lifelong commitment to service defined true greatness.
The Beacon Theatre premiere will bring together athletes, artists, dignitaries, and fans to celebrate Mutombo’s life and legacy. Following its recent festival wins, Mount Mutombo continues to resonate as a universal story of resilience, generosity, and hope.
“This film is more than a biography; it’s a reflection of how one person’s humanity can move the world,” said Dina Khreino, director of Mount Mutombo. “Dikembe believed greatness was measured not by what you have, but by what you give. It’s an honor to share his spirit with audiences and to celebrate his legacy alongside the NBA, the organization that helped shape his incredible journey.”
The evening will feature special guests, a musical performance from the film’s acclaimed score, and appearances from friends, family and collaborators who knew and worked alongside Mutombo throughout his remarkable life.
Mount Mutombo features exclusive interviews with NBA Commissioner Adam Silver, Allen Iverson, Hakeem Olajuwon, Patrick Ewing, Alonzo Mourning, Larry Brown, Jeff Van Gundy, and Masai Ujiri, among others. The original score includes compositions by Eduardo Aram, with original theme song by African icons Sona Jobarteh and Lokua Kanza.
The New York premiere precedes the film’s limited theatrical engagements from Nov. 1 across select AMC Theatres in the United States.
