Swingman Kevin Huerter is averaging 10.9 points per game and shooting 31.4% on 3-pointers this season.
Detroit has reportedly made a move for the stretch run of 2025-26.
ESPN’s Shams Charania reports the Pistons are acquiring Kevin Huerter and Dario Šarić from the Chicago Bulls in a multi-team trade that sends the Minnesota Timberwolves’ Mike Conley and the Pistons’ Jaden Ivey to the Bulls.
In the trade, the Pistons also get a 2026 first-round protected swap from the Wolves.

Huerter is a career 37.1% 3-point shooter, but is at just 31.4% this season (the lowest mark in his career). He was dealt to the Bulls by the Sacramento Kings at the trade deadline last season, but is on the move again. He’s averaging 10.9 points, 3.8 rebounds and 2.6 assists in 44 games for Chicago and trading him clears even more playing time for young star Matas Buzelis.
Huerter is having one of the most well-rounded seasons of his career and would join a Detroit team aiming for a deep playoff run in the East.
The Pistons have the No. 1 record in the Eastern Conference (36-12) and are led by All-Stars Cade Cunningham and Jalen Duren. However, Detroit is last in the NBA in 3-pointers made (531) and No. 27 in 3-point attempts (1,524). That could change with Huerter being added to a group that features constant deep threat Duncan Robinson, among others.
Ivey, the No. 5 pick in 2022, was off to a career season in 2024-25 before a broken left fibula sidelined him after 30 games. He needed knee surgery in the offseason and did not make his season debut until late November. He’s averaging 8.2 ppg, 2.2 rpg and 1.6 apg — all career lows — and has been mostly a reserve this season after being a starter in the three seasons prior.
Minnesota does not receive a player in this trade, but moving on from Conley’s contract helps the team financially, per Charania. Facing an estimated $24 million bill entering Tuesday, the Conley move dropped the anticipated total to somewhere around $4 million and got them below the first apron.
The Bulls are moving on from Šarić quickly, trading him less than a week after acquiring him from the Kings in the trade that sent De’Andre Hunter to Sacramento and Dennis Schröder to Cleveland. Conley (4.4 ppg, 1.8 rpg, 2.9 apg) moves to Chicago and will be a veteran voice for the Bulls and has served in mostly a reserve role for Minnesota this season.
All four players involved in this reported trade are on expiring contracts.
