Let's spotlight the Kings players who have earned First Team selections throughout Sacramento’s 77 seasons.

Doug Christie assistant coach for three seasons before becoming head coach in May 2025.

Making an All-NBA Defensive First Team is an incredible individual accomplishment, especially when considering only five players are awarded with that honor each year. This list puts a spotlight on the Kings who have earned First Team selections throughout Sacramento’s 77 seasons.

Doug Christie – 2003

Christie, the current head coach of the Kings, played for the franchise from 2000-01 to 2004-05. In his four full seasons in Sacramento, he made four All-Defensive teams and finished top-five in Defensive Player of the Year voting on two occasions. At age-32 in 2002-03, Christie averaged 9.4 points, 4.3 rebounds, 4.7 assists, 2.3 steals and 0.5 blocks per game across 80 regular-season appearances. It marked the sixth and final time in his career that Christie swiped at least 2.0 spg, and he was rewarded with his lone All-Defensive First Team award throughout his 15 years in the NBA.

Metta World Peace – 2006

World Peace spent two and a half seasons in Sacramento after a mid-season trade from the Indiana Pacers during the 2005-06 campaign. That year, he suited up for 40 of his 56 combined outings with the Kings and compiled averages of 17.6 points, 5.1 rebounds, 3.6 assists, 2.2 steals and 0.7 blocks a night. World Peace finished fourth in the DPOY vote and was named to the All-Defensive First Team for the second time in his career. Over the course of his 17 seasons in the NBA, he was a one-time All-Star and All-NBA member, the 2003-04 DPOY, four-time All-Defensive, and a 2010 champion with the Los Angeles Lakers.
