2025 California Classic Summer League: Swider leads Lakers past Heat

SAN FRANCISCO – Cole Swider racked up 20 points to lead the Los Angeles Lakers to a 103-83 victory over the Miami Heat in the California Classic on Sunday at Chase Center.

Swider and Bronny James led the Lakers to a hot start, combining for 22 points in the first half. Swider racked up 12 points on 4-for-6 shooting, while James tallied 10 points.

The Lakers held a 13-point lead at the break and although the Heat brought a better effort in the third quarter, they could not cut into the deficit and trailed by 14 to begin the final frame.

Kel’el Ware was the Heat’s most notable contributor in the first half, with 12 points, three rebounds and a block. Bryson Warren led the Heat with 18 points, two rebounds, two assists and two steals. Myron Gardner followed up with 14 points, while Dain Dainja chipped in 13.

Swider stayed strong for the Lakers in the second half and totaled 20 points on 7-for-10 shooting for the game. Darius Bazely also made his presence felt with 16 points, nine rebounds and three blocks in 19 minutes. DJ Steward filled the stat sheet 14 points, three rebounds, three assists, two steals and a block.

The Lakers and Heat both play again Tuesday, with Los Angeles facing the San Antonio Spurs, while Miami faces the Golden State Warriors.
