SAN FRANCISCO – The Golden State Warriors defeated the Los Angeles Lakers, 89-84, in the California Classic Summer League at Chase Center on Saturday.

While the Lakers got out to a 19-11 lead after the opening frame, the Warriors took care of business from there. They got back in the game thanks to a 28-24 second quarter and then took command with a 30-17 third quarter. That allowed Golden State to maintain the lead for the closing 17 minutes, getting their lead up to 13 points at times. The Warriors shot 43.8% from the field while holding the Lakers to 38.0% shooting. Golden State dominated down low, out-rebounding Los Angeles, 45-39, while outscoring them in the paint, 32-26. The Warriors also outscored the Lakers in fastbreak scoring, 13-6.

The Lakers (0-1) were led by Cole Swider, collecting 24 points and eight rebounds. DJ Steward had 20 points, two rebounds and six assists. Each player shot 7-for-10 from the field. Dalton Knecht compiled 10 points, four rebounds, two assists and two steals, while Darius Bazley led the bench with 10 points, four rebounds and three blocks.

The Warriors (1-0) were led by Jackson Rowe, providing 13 points on 6-for-10 shooting, along with eight rebounds, two assists, two steals and two blocks. Isaiah Mobley matched those 13 points off the bench, adding two rebounds, three assists and two steals to his stat line. Jaden Shackelford had 11 points and two assists, while Blake Hinson provided 12 points off the pine.

Both teams return to action on Sunday, with Los Angeles matching up with the Miami Heat (4:30 ET, NBA TV) and Golden State facing the San Antonio Spurs (6:30 ET, NBA TV).
