Pre-Draft Outlook
Miami will enter the offseason on the hunt for a superstar — that’s the Pat Riley way. And this franchise hasn’t had one since the breakup of the Big 3, with all due respect to Bam Adebayo. That said, the Heat own a good pick in a deep draft, and perhaps their superstar search will fetch a future foundational piece in the first round.
The Way to Go
Miami could use depth at guard, a position that will be plentiful even at the No. 13 pick. For example, if LaBaron Philon Jr. is around, the Heat would likely not resist. He averaged 22 points at Alabama last year. It’s really about how the first dozen picks impact Miami’s decision-making, because at that spot, there’s the likely chance of a higher-ranking player falling to Miami.
