Overview

Otega Oweh helped lead Team Final to a 17U Peach Jam championship, posting 17 points and five rebounds in the title game before committing to Oklahoma as a four-star recruit out of Blair Academy in New Jersey. He played sparingly as a freshman, then started 28 games as a sophomore and averaged 11.4 points per game. After entering the transfer portal, Oweh landed at Kentucky, where he became the team’s leading scorer and opened his junior season with 26 consecutive games in double figures. As a senior, Oweh averaged 18.6 points, 4.8 rebounds, 2.7 assists and 1.8 steals in 32.8 minutes per game on 46.5%/33.3%/73.1% shooting splits. He earned Second Team All-SEC honors for the second straight year.

Analysis

Oweh is a disruptive on-ball defender, able to guard across three positions with his long arms and solid frame. Offensively, he thrives as a downhill slasher who draws fouls at a high rate. He is more effective attacking closeouts and finishing through contact than creating off the bounce, but the willingness to play physical on both ends gives him a clear role. His three-point shot has room to grow, particularly with a quicker release, though he showed comfort relocating off the ball and spacing the floor in catch-and-shoot situations.

Projection

Oweh’s defensive intensity, physical tools and transition scoring give him upside as a two-way combo guard or undersized wing. He projects as a high-energy connector on both ends, the type of player who defends the opposing team’s best perimeter option and fills gaps offensively without needing the ball in his hands. Oweh has drawn NBA comparisons to players like Josh Okogie and Jimmy Butler.

Career Highlights

  • Named to the All-SEC Second Team by the league’s coaches in both seasons at Kentucky (2024-25, 2025-26).
  • Led the Wildcats in scoring (18.6 ppg) and steals (1.8 spg) as a senior in 2025-26.
  • Scored a career-high 35 points vs. Santa Clara in the first round of the 2026 NCAA Tournament (March 20).
  • Finished with the most points by a player in his first two seasons at Kentucky (1,255).
  • Brother of Washington Commanders defensive end Odafe Oweh, a first-round pick in the 2021 NFL Draft.
