Will play Saturday
Gafford will make his season debut after missing the team's first five regular-season games due to a sprained right ankle. It wouldn't be surprising if the Mavericks ease him back into action, though he'll likely get the starting nod with Anthony Davis (calf) and Dereck Lively (knee) sidelined.

Remaining out vs. Detroit
Lively will miss his third consecutive game due to a right knee sprain, and his next opportunity to play will come Monday against the Rockets. Dwight Powell is likely to see an uptick in playing time, especially if Daniel Gafford (ankle) is downgraded from questionable to out.

Questionable for Saturday
If Russell can't give it a go Saturday, Cooper Flagg would get all the run he could handle, and Brandon Williams would likely be turned loose in the second unit. Check back for another update on Russell closer to Saturday's tip-off.
