Tyler Herro connects on 12 of his final 14 shots, including a tie-breaking floater with 42.1 seconds left, in Monday's season debut.
The Heat, already scorching to open the season, have added a flamethrower.
All-Star guard Tyler Herro was available and started tonight’s home game against the Dallas Mavericks, marking his 2025-26 season debut. The game ended with a 106-102 Heat victory, one Herro sealed with a clean pullup from 10 feet, breaking a 102-102 tie just 42.1 seconds from the finish.
Herro, who underwent September surgery to alleviate posterior impingement syndrome in his left ankle and foot, racked up 24 points (12-18 FGs), seven rebounds and three steals in 29 minutes.

While Herro is on the mend, Norman Powell — the team’s leading scorer this season at 25.4 points per game — had an MRI on Monday that confirmed he has a strained left groin and he won’t play against the Mavericks. Andrew Wiggins (strained left hip flexor) and Nikola Jović (right hip impingement) also remain out for the game against Dallas, the Heat said.
Herro earned his first All-Star appearance in 2025, averaging career-best marks of 23.9 ppg and 5.5 apg while shooting 47.2% overall and 37.5% on 3-pointers last season.
It was the best season of his career, one in which he won the league’s 3-point contest at All-Star Weekend and did all that while posting career-bests in shooting percentage, 3-pointers made per game (3.3) and assists per game.
He had three 40-point games last season after having one such game (41 vs. Houston in 2022) in his first five seasons combined.
But injuries — often of the foot and ankle variety — have been an issue in the past for Herro as well. He missed at least 15 games in each of his first four seasons, then missed 40 games in the 2023-24 season.
