Chris Bosh sits atop the list for the Raptors as the leader for single season rebounds per game.
The Toronto Raptors weren’t established until 1995, but they do have a championship and a fair share of some prolific glass cleaners. Let’s dig into the historical stats and highlight Toronto’s top five leaders in rebounds per game for a single season.
Chris Bosh, 2010, 10.8 RPG
The Raptors selected Bosh with the fourth pick in the 2003 Draft. He finished fifth in Rookie of the Year voting in 2003-04, averaging 11.5 points and 7.4 rebounds per game. He made his first All-Star team not long after in 2005-06, which began a streak of 11 straight seasons in which he earned that honor. The 2009-10 season was his final campaign with the Raptors before he joined the Miami Heat. He went out with a bang, averaging 24.0 points and 10.8 rebounds while finishing 12th in MVP voting.
Antonio Davis, 2001, 10.1 RPG
Davis spent the first six seasons of his career with the Pacers and never averaged more than 7.3 rebounds per game in a single campaign. He joined the Raptors prior to the 1999-00 season, and after averaging 8.8 rebounds per night in his first season with the franchise put up a career-best 10.1 rebounds per contest in his second go-around with the club. Davis also averaged 13.7 points and 1.9 blocks that season, which helped him earn the lone All-Star selection of his career.
Chris Bosh, 2009, 10.0 RPG
Bosh averaged 38 minutes over 77 games in 2008-09. He averaged 10.0 rebounds per contest that season – 7.2 of which came on the defensive glass. He also had another excellent scoring campaign, averaging 22.7 points while shooting 48.7% from the field. Over 509 regular season appearances with the Raptors, Bosh averaged 20.2 points, 9.4 rebounds and 1.2 blocks per night. Over 11 playoff games, he averaged 20.5 points and 9.0 rebounds. He would go on to win two championships with the Heat.
Antonio Davis, 2002, 9.6 RPG
Davis followed up the first double-digit rebound campaign of his career by averaging 9.6 boards per contest in 2001-02. He also averaged 14.5 points per game that season, which would end up being the highest mark of his career. The Raptors traded Davis to the Bulls in 2003. Davis then played for the Knicks before finishing his career with eight appearances for Toronto at the end of the 2005-06 season. Over 310 regular-season games with the Raptors, Davis averaged 12.9 points and 9.2 rebounds.
Charles Oakley, 2001, 9.5 RPG
Oakley played for the Bulls and Knicks prior to joining the Raptors. He was a prolific rebounder early on, averaging at least 11.9 rebounds in four of his first six seasons in the NBA. By the time he reached the Raptors he was in the later stages of his career, but he still averaged 9.5 rebounds in 2000-01, which ended up being his final season with the Raptors. Across 208 regular season games with the franchise, he averaged 7.9 points and 8.0 rebounds.
