Quentin Grimes records top Dunk Score of year!

Quentin Grimes is now on top of the Dunk Score leaderboard with a poster slam that registered a 118.2.

The NBA Dunk Score, which combines player tracking technology with NBA data science to analyze every dunk from every NBA game in real time, was introduced before the 2024-25 season. The end result? An objective score based on technical excellence, athleticism and difficulty for every dunk.

Quentin Grimes, Mavericks – 118.2

On January 25 vs. the Boston Celtics, Quentin Grimes put himself at the very top of the Dunk Score leaderboard, registering a staggering 118.2. Grimes (Jump (90), Power (95), Style (82) Contest (81) became the first player this season to eclipse an 80+ in each of the four subscore categories, showing off some impressive metrics like a 33.1”, a max ball height of 10.8’ and a ball speed through rim of 30 mph.

Shaedon Sharpe – 113.9

Shaedon Sharpe takes flight in a dunk of the year candidate, registering a Dunk Score of 113.9.

On Feb. 26 in Washington, Portland’s Shaedon Sharpe intercepted an outlet pass, took one dribble and elevated toward the rim for the poster slam with impressive Jump (98) and Power (99) subscores on his way to a 113.9 Dunk Score. Sharpe’s 41.1-inch vertical was the fourth-highest of the season; he owns four of the top five leaps.


John Collins, Jazz – 113.4

John Collins rises up for a 113.4 Dunk Score!

John Collins poster slam records a 113.4 Dunk Score, with Defensive Contest subscore of 94.

On Nov. 4 vs. Chicago, Collins rolled off of a screen and rose over his defender with a 33-inch vertical and threw down a powerful slam with a ball speed through the rim of 27 mph. This Collins poster generated a rare, double feat of having two subscores – Power (96) and Defensive Contest (94) – both in the 90s (out of 100).


Neemias Queta, Celtics – 113.2

Neemias Queta unleashes the fourth highest Dunk Score of the season, featuring impressive Jump (91) and Power (96) subscores.

On April 9 vs. the Magic, Queta soared into this year’s top 5 scores on an emphatic poster. He showed impressive Jump (91) and Power (96) subscores on his way to the 4th highest score of the season.


Jalen Green, Rockets – 111.3

Jalen Green finishes the fast break with a monster slam, reaching a Power subscore of 99.

On Nov. 10 vs. the Pistons, Green showed off his supreme athleticism on this fastbreak slam, recording a 40.2” vertical and a massive Power subscore (99).
