Top 5 all-time LA Clippers scoring leaders

Randy Smith used his trademark quickness and athleticism to race to the top of the Clippers all-time scoring list.

1. Randy Smith – 12,735 Points

Drafted in the 7th round of the 1971 NBA Draft, Smith came from Buffalo State College to the Buffalo Braves, averaging 13.4 PPG as a rookie. Over eight seasons, he went on to become a two-time NBA All-Star for the franchise (1976, 1978), winning All-Star MVP and making the All-NBA Second Team in 1976. Smith averaged 20+ PPG for four straight seasons from 1975-1979, leading the team into its San Diego Clippers era.

2. Blake Griffin – 10,863 Points

Griffin took the NBA by storm after being drafted No. 1 overall in 2011, winning Rookie of the Year, the NBA Slam Dunk contest and making his first All-Star appearance for the Clippers. He went on to make all-NBA Second or Third Team from 2012-15, and was selected to the All-Star team each season. Over seven seasons with the franchise, he averaged 21.5 PPG.

Along with Chris Paul and DeAndre Jordan, Griffin was the core of the “Lob City” Clippers. The run brought the franchise back into relevance, cementing them as an exciting part of the Los Angeles sports scene.

3. Bob McAdoo – 9,434 Points

McAdoo was, at times, an unmatched scoring force for the Buffalo Braves. From 1974-76, he averaged 30+ PPG, peaking at 34.5 PPG in a Most Valuable Player-winning campaign in 1975. McAdoo was a face-up center ahead of his time, using quickness and a soft jump shot to pull the more traditional bigs of his era away from the basket.

After being traded to the New York Knicks in 1977, McAdoo went on to win two NBA Championships with the Los Angeles Lakers (1982, 1985) and was named to the NBA 75th Anniversary Team in 2022. He was also an assistant coach for the Miami Heat for 18 seasons, spanning 1996 to 2014.

4. Elton Brand – 9,336 Points

Brand was.a stalwart in the post for the Clippers during his seven seasons, using strength and a soft touch to anchor the offense. He averaged a double-double in five of them, peaking with 24.7 PPG in 2006, as he made the All-NBA Second Team.

Along with Sam Cassell and the following scorer, Brand brought the Clippers to the second round in 2006, winning the franchise’s first playoff series since 1977.

5. Corey Maggette – 8,835 Points

A hard-nosed, physical slasher, Maggette got to the rim at will for the Clippers for eight seasons after coming over from the Orlando Magic. He averaged 15.3 PPG for the franchise, including two seasons of 20+ PPG.

Maggette made the sixth-most free throws in the NBA during the 2000s (3660), more than stars like Vince Carter, Tracy McGrady and Kevin Garnett.
