1. Gene Shue, 1,027 Games

Shue began his tenure as the head coach of the Baltimore Bullets in the 1966-67 season. After departing the franchise to coach for two other teams, he returned for a six-season stint as the head coach of the Washington Bullets. Across 1,027 regular-season games with the franchise, he posted a record of 522-505. He won the Coach of the Year Award two times and made one trip to the NBA Finals in 1971. In the playoffs, he posted a record of 19-36.

2. Wes Unseld, 547 Games

Unseld spent one season as an assistant with the Bullets before taking over as head coach during the 1987-88 season. Unself led the lead to one postseason during his coaching tenure. He finished with a regular season record of 202-345, while going 2-3 in the playoffs.

3. Eddie Jordan, 421 Games

Jordan spent time with the Kings and Nets before taking over as the head coach of the Wizards in 2003. While they went just 25-57 during his first season, they made the playoffs in each of the next four seasons. Jordan led the Wizards to the Eastern Conference semifinals in 2004-05. In total, Jordan finished his coaching tenure in Washington with a regular-season record of 197-224 and went 8-18 in postseason play. 

4. Scott Brooks, 390 Games

After seven seasons as the head coach of the Thunder, Brooks began his coaching career with the Wizards at the start of the 2016-17 season. The Wizards went 49-33 that season, advancing to the Eastern Conference semifinals. They lost that series in seven games and made the playoffs two more times, but did not advance past the first round. Over 390 regular season games with the franchise, Brooks posted a record of 183-207. In the playoffs, he went 10-14.

5. Randy Wittman, 377 Games

Wittman’s his first head coaching opportunity was with the Cavaliers in the 1999-2000 season. After spending time as either a head coach or assistant coach on the Timberwolves and Magic, Wittman was an assistant on the Wizards for three seasons before taking over as their head coach during the 2011-12 season. After going 29-53 in 2012-13, the Wizards won at least 41 games in each of Wittman’s final three seasons. They made two trips to the playoffs, but did not advance past the Eastern Conference semifinals. Wittman posted a regular-season record of 178-199 with the Wizards and went 12-9 in the playoffs.
