2026 NBA Summer League: Acuff Jr., Sharp lead Kings to tough victory over Clippers

No. 7 overall pick Darius Acuff Jr. led the Sacramento Kings to a win in his Summer League debut as he finished with 19 points.

LAS VEGAS – Productive offensive efforts from Emanuel Sharp and No. 7 overall pick Darius Acuff Jr., along with a 36-22 scoring edge in the paint, led the Sacramento Kings to a 91-85 victory over the Los Angeles Clippers in a 2026 NBA Summer League matchup at Thomas and Mack Center. 

The Clippers emerged from the opening period with a slim 22-20 advantage, but the Kings turned the tide during the middle quarters by outscoring Los Angeles, 50-36, over that stretch. Sacramento’s lead would ultimately hold up over the final 10 minutes, although LA was within four points with 18 seconds remaining before Sharp sank two free throws to seal the victory. 

Sharp paced the Kings with 21 points, adding two rebounds and four steals. Acuff Jr. had 19 points and complemented them with seven assists, three rebounds, two steals and one block. Dylan Cardwell supplied 15 points, nine boards, two assists and two blocks. Nique Clifford and Jonathan Mogbo furnished 13 and 12 points, respectively, with Mogbo also pulling down seven rebounds. 

The Clippers were led by Cam Christie, who turned in team-high figures of 15 points and eight rebounds. Baba Miller followed with 12 points and supplemented them with five rebounds, one assist and three blocks. Sean Pedulla and Nick Martinelli generated matching 11-point, two-assist tallies, and Martinelli also registered five rebounds. Kobe Sanders recorded 10 points, six boards, four assists and four steals, and No. 5 overall pick Keaton Wagler managed seven points. 

Both teams return to action Sunday, with the Kings facing AJ Dybantsa and the Washington Wizards (8 ET, Prime Video) and the Clippers tangling with Darryn Peterson and the Utah Jazz (10 ET, Prime Video).
