Russell Westbrook climbs to No. 5 on all-time assist list

The Kings veteran guard passes both Mark Jackson and Steve Nash to secure his spot in the top 5.

Russell Westbrook went into Tuesday’s matchup against the San Antonio Spurs in seventh place on the all-time assist list with 10,333.

With three assists, Westbrook passed both Mark Jackson and Steve Nash to secure his spot in the top five for assists.

Westbrook now trails four NBA legends on the leaderboard:

  1. John Stockton – 15,806
  2. Chris Paul – 12,552
  3. Jason Kidd – 12,091
  4. LeBron James – 11,909
  5. Russell Westbrook – 10,336

Westbrook is one of just two players in league history with at least 25,000 points and 10,000 assists. The other? LeBron James.

Westbrook also recently became the first guard in NBA history to surpass 9,000 career rebounds.

In 62 games this season, Westbrook has averaged 15.4 points, 6.6 assists and 5.5 rebounds per game while shooting 42.8% from the floor. His six triple-doubles this year rank fifth among all players, and two of them have come in his last three games.

The all-time triple-double leader is cementing his legacy as one of the greatest point guards the NBA has ever seen.
