There have been 12 players in NBA history that have won multiple Finals MVPs. Leading the way is Michael Jordan, who won the award six times. Let’s highlight each player and when they brought home the awards.

Michael Jordan – 1991, 1992, 1993, 1996, 1997, 1998

Jordan had two three-peats with the Bulls. Had he not retired to play baseball following the 1992-93 season, he could have racked up even more championships and Finals MVPs. For his career, Jordan averaged 33.4 points, 6.4 rebounds, 5.7 assists and 2.1 steals in the playoffs.

LeBron James – 2012, 2013, 2016, 2020

James won two Finals MVPs with the Heat, one with the Cavaliers and one with the Lakers. On his run to winning his first Finals MVP, he averaged 30.3 points, 9.7 rebounds, 5.6 assists and 1.9 steals over 23 playoff games for the Heat.

Tim Duncan – 1999, 2003, 2005

Duncan was a member of five championship teams with the Spurs. He was named the Finals MVP for each of his first three titles. Over 251 career playoff games, Duncan averaged 20.6 points, 11.4 rebounds, 3.0 assists and 2.3 blocks.

Magic Johnson – 1980, 1982, 1987

Johnson won five championships with the Lakers, three of which he was named the Finals MVP for. That included his first title in 1980. Over 190 career playoff games, Johnson averaged 19.5 points, 7.7 rebounds, 12.3 assists and 1.9 steals.

Shaquille O’Neal – 2000, 2001, 2002

O’Neal won three championships with the Lakers and one with the Heat. He was named the Finals MVP for each title with the Lakers. Over 216 career playoff games, he averaged 24.3 points, 11.6 rebounds and 2.1 blocks.

Kareem Abdul-Jabbar – 1971, 1985

Abdul-Jabbar won his first NBA title and Finals MVP with the Bucks in 1971. He then won five more championships with the Lakers. That included in 1985, when he was also named Finals MVP.

Larry Bird – 1984, 1986

Bird won three championships with the Celtics, his first of which came in 1981. In both of his final championships, he was named the Finals MVP. Over 164 career playoff games, Bird averaged 23.8 points, 10.3 rebounds, 6.5 assists and 1.8 steals.

Kobe Bryant – 2009, 2010

Bryant played his entire career with the Lakers and won five championships. He was named the Finals MVP for his last two titles. Over 220 career playoff games, Bryant averaged 25.6 points, 5.1 rebounds and 4.7 assists.

Kevin Durant – 2017, 2018

Durant played with the Warriors for three seasons and came away with two championships. He was named the Finals MVP for both of them. In both of those playoff runs, he averaged at least 28.5 points per game.

Kawhi Leonard – 2014, 2019

Leonard won his first championship and Finals MVP with the Spurs in 2014. In his lone season with the Raptors, he also won a championship and was named Finals MVP in 2019.

Hakeem Olajuwon – 1994, 1995

Olajuwon put forth some dominant performances in the playoffs, but he didn’t win his first title until 1994. The Rockets then repeated with a championship the next season. Olajuwon was named the Finals MVP for both of them.

Willis Reed – 1970, 1973

Reed spent his entire career with the Knicks and had two championships to show for it. He was named the Finals MVP for both titles. His best playoff run came in 1970 when he averaged 23.7 points and 13.8 rebounds over 18 playoff games.
