Here are four things to know before watching the Timberwolves battle the Lakers (8 ET, NBA League Pass):
1. Wolves look to turn things around. Despite losing their last game, the Timberwolves have won four of their last five matches. They beat the LA Clippers twice, Los Angeles Lakers and Golden State Warriors in that span and are above .500 (12-11).
2. Lakers’ struggles continue: After an incredible start to the season when they won 10 of their first 14 outings, the Lakers have gone 3-7 since then. Four of those losses have come by 25 points or more.
3. Slow-paced battle: While these might look like high-powered offenses on the surface, both teams prefer to play at a slow tempo. Minnesota ranks 24th in pace, while Los Angeles sits 20th. That slow pace has the Lakers sitting 18th in points scored, and the Timberwolves ranked 20th.
4. Wolves have edge at home: These teams have played twice this season, with the home team winning both matchups. With that said, Minnesota has dominated Los Angeles over recent years, winning nine of their last 13 games.
