Both Tyler Herro and Julius Randle should receive plenty of shot attempts as No. 1 options on their new teams.
It has been another busy offseason with stars moving across the NBA. There have been discussions at length about the fits of players like Giannis Antetokounmpo in Miami, Jaylen Brown and LeBron James in Philadelphia, but for a moment, let’s discuss the next tier of players who changed teams this summer. Selecting a few players of this group could bring you the 2026-27 fantasy championship if their roles expand as expected.
Tyler Herro – MIL
We’ve already previously seen Tyler Herro as an All-Star, but this could be his best season statistically. Herro is clearly the No. 1 option on this rebuilding Bucks team. Even lottery teams will get production and Herro has plenty of reasons for a big year. He is a free agent at the end of the 2026-27 season and should be highly motivated to get a new lucrative contract. The sharpshooter is also from Milwaukee, so this is a homecoming for him. Herro has averaged over 20 points per game in each of the last five seasons but with more shots likely available, getting closer to 25 points per game is certainly possible. A career high in assists and 3s is certainly on the table as well, making Herro a player to eye especially in category league drafts, but should also be valuable in High Score and standard points leagues.
Julius Randle – BKN
After sharing the workload with Anthony Edwards the last two seasons in Minnesota and averaging 14.5 shot attempts per game, expect Randle to go back to his Knicks workload in Brooklyn. Over his final four seasons in New York, Randle averaged 23.3 PPG on 18.2 shot attempts per game. The durable big man made the All-Star team three times in those four seasons. Randle can easily get back to that amount of shot attempts with a near clear runway for him to be a top offensive option alongside Michael Porter Jr. With Randle able to stuff the stat sheet in points, rebounds and assists, but still being vulnerable to turnovers, he is the perfect player for High Score.
Kel’el Ware – MIL
Ware averaged 12.8 PPG and 10.7 RPG in 34 games last season as a starter with the Heat. With the Bucks evaluating young players going forward, it is very conceivable that Ware could win the starting PF job over Kyle Kuzma. Regardless of who starts to begin the season, expect Ware to receive a career-high in minutes this season after averaging 22.2 MPG in his first two seasons in Miami. Ware also is extension eligible after 2026-27, with this being his third NBA season.
Walker Kessler – LAL
Kessler was in the very early stages of a breakout in Utah last season before being lost to a shoulder injury after just five games. Kessler has no competition for minutes in Los Angeles’ frontcourt and with a new long-term contract extension, the Lakers believe he is ready to contribute an All-Star caliber season with the purple and gold. Add to the fact that Kessler is the exact kind of center Luka Dončić loves to throw lobs to and this could be the perfect fit for the 25-year-old big.
Norman Powell – CHI
Powell’s two best fantasy seasons have come in the last two years with the Clippers and Heat respectively. Now at 33, he gets a new opportunity on a rebuilding Bulls team with plenty of shot opportunities available. With Josh Giddey as the starting PG, expect Powell to get plenty of open looks from 3. Powell should be the No. 1 option in this young offense. He has also been one of the more efficient guards in the league over the last couple of seasons, making him an ideal player for category leagues.
