NBA Fantasy: ADP risers before opening night

Analyzing five ADP risers leading up to a new NBA and fantasy basketball season.

New Orleans Pelicans guard Dejounte Murray is one of the biggest ADP risers in fantasy basketball leading up to opening night.

Fantasy basketball draft season is hitting its final stretch, and with NBA opening night just days away, average draft position (ADP) is shifting fast. Tracking Yahoo ADP trends can reveal undervalued sleepers, overhyped picks and late-round values before your league drafts.

Below, we break down the biggest fantasy basketball ADP risers this preseason. Whether you’re in a points or category league, use these movers to sharpen your draft strategy and find talent.

Dejounte Murray, New Orleans Pelicans

Preseason ADP: 67.8 | ADP This Week: 64.1

After playing just 14 games last season due to recovery from a torn Achilles, Murray looks fully healthy heading into 2026-27. The 6-foot-4 point guard logged 19 minutes in the Pelicans’ preseason opener. Murray has carried depleted price tag as of late, mainly because he has only played 45 games over the last two seasons.

That injury risk is baked into the preseason price tag, but it’s clearly too low. Murray has been a great player for most of his career, averaging 19 points, 6.3 rebounds, 6.8 assists and 1.7 steals over the last six seasons. That sort of stat line would make Murray a draft steal at pick 68, and people are clearly taking notice of his ADP.

Ryan Rollins, Milwaukee Bucks

Preseason ADP: 75.2 | ADP This Week: 71.5

Milwaukee is a difficult team to figure out after the Giannis Antetokounmpo trade, but there should be plenty of opportunities for Rollins. He was their starting point guard after Damian Lillard’s departure, averaging 17.3 points, 4.6 rebounds, 5.6 assists and 1.5 steals in a breakout 2025-26 season.

Rollins did that next to a usage hog in Antetokounmpo, but it’s likely he sees more minutes, shots and usage with the superstar now in Miami, even though the Bucks got Tyler Herro in the trade return. His usage jumped to 27.3% with Antetokounmpo off the floor last year, and fantasy managers are clearly excited about the opportunity.

Ausar Thompson, Detroit Pistons

Preseason ADP: 84.4 | ADP This Week: 77.6

Fantasy managers love hearing positive coach talk, and that’s what we got regarding Thompson. Not only did he ink a long-term deal over the summer, but Pistons coach J.B. Bickerstaff mentioned that the plan is for Thompson to play more minutes this season. That’s what we want to hear after Thompson averaged 26 last season.

A 30-minute role is brilliant for a defensive stud like this, with Thompson averaging 11.1 points, 6.9 rebounds, 3.8 assists, 2.2 steals and 1.4 blocks in the 40 games he played at least 28 minutes last year. It’s hard to find a mid-round player who can provide nearly four steals and blocks per game combined, especially since Thompson is just scratching the surface of what he could become in a more extensive role.

Jerami Grant, Memphis Grizzlies

Preseason ADP: 116.4 | ADP This Week: 105.5

This is a surprising riser, but less bewildering given the roster’s outlook. The Grizzlies’ rotation has spots up for grabs, and Grant is one of their few true veterans. He averaged at least 12 shots per game in each of his four seasons with the Portland Trail Blazers, so the forward could do more of the same with his new team.

It’s unclear exactly what Grant’s role might look like. In any case, he’s an interesting flier at the end of drafts.
