Chris Paul headlines a list of players with birthdays on May 6.

With over 5,000 players in NBA history, at least one player was born on every day of the calendar year – including three leap day ballers. Our day-by-day breakdown of the players born on each day of the year continues.

Below are the most notable NBA players born on May 6.

Chris Paul (1985): To get a nickname like “The Point God”, you must be a special player. It all started when Paul was selected fourth overall in the 2005 NBA Draft out of Wake Forest. The New Orleans Hornets selected him with that high pick, and he rewarded them with a Rookie of the Year campaign. That was a sign of things to come, with CP3 making his first All-Star appearance two years later. He also led the league in assists that year, finishing second in MVP voting. That was his first of 12 All-Star appearances, while finishing All-Defense nine times.

In addition, Paul led the league in assists five seasons and led the NBA in steals another six times. Two of those assists titles happened in his first six years with the Hornets, and then another two came in his six seasons with the LA Clippers. Paul picked up his most recent assisting crown with the Phoenix Suns in 2022, playing for the Houston Rockets, Oklahoma City Thunder, Golden State Warriors and San Antonio Spurs along the way. He currently plays for San Antonio and ranks second all-time in both assists and steals behind John Stockton.

Goran Dragić (1986): It’s hard to follow up a player like Paul, but Dragic was a tough opponent for CP3 throughout their careers. “The Dragon” was the 45th pick in the 2008 NBA Draft out of Slovenia, but was traded on draft day to the Phoenix Suns. His first stint with the Suns only lasted three seasons but re-joining them in 2012 was the best move of his career. Dragic won a Most Improved Player Award that season and finished 16th in MVP voting as the Suns starting point guard. He moved to Miami two years later and made his sole All-Star appearance in 2018. Dragic finished sixth in Sixth Man of the Year voting two years later as a key bench piece for the Heat. The Slovenian spent seven years in Miami but closed his career with small stints in Toronto, Brooklyn, Chicago and Milwaukee before officially retiring in 2023. Dragic averaged 13.3 points, 3.0 rebounds, 4.7 assists and 0.9 steals throughout his 15-year career.
