Chris Paul strips Devin Booker in the 1st quarter for the 2,685th steal of his career to move past Jason Kidd.
Chris Paul recorded the 2,685th steal of his career on Thursday night to pass Jason Kidd for second place on the NBA’s career steals leaderboard.
With 5:24 remaining in the quarter, Paul stripped his former Suns teammate, Devin Booker, for his first steal of the night to move up the list. The Spurs won the game, 120-109.
It’s the second time this season Paul has surpassed Kidd for second place on an NBA all-time list. On Dec. 8, Paul dished out his 12,092nd career assist to jump over Kidd on the NBA’s all-time assists leaderboard.
John Stockton is the all-time leader with 3,265 steals — a record that may never broken.

Playing in his 20th season, Paul has led the NBA in steals six times (2007-08, 2008-09, 2010-11, 2011-12, 2012-13, 2013-14) and is a nine-time All-Defensive Team selection, including seven First-Team selections.
Paul is one of 17 players in NBA history to average at least two steals per game throughout their career — and one of only six to do so while playing in over 1,000 games.
The others on that list are Stockton, Michael Jordan, Maurice Cheeks, Clyde Drexler and Scottie Pippen — all of whom are Hall of Famers.
