Norman Powell is among the current NBA players born on May 25.
With over 5,000 players in NBA history, at least one player was born on every day of the calendar year – including three leap day ballers. Our day-by-day breakdown of the players born on each day of the year continues.
Below are the most notable NBA players born on May 25.
Bill Sharman (1926)
“Bullseye Bill” was the 17th overall pick in the 1950 NBA Draft by the Washington Capitols. The shooting guard played just one season in the nation’s capital, spending his final 10 seasons with the Boston Celtics. Sharman broke out in 1952, making the first of eight straight All-Star appearances. He also led the league in free-throw percentage seven times while making All-NBA seven times. He can be characterized as a winner as he helped the Celtics win four titles throughout his 11-year career.
Sharman retired in 1961, averaging 17.8 points, 3.9 rebounds and 3.0 assists per game. He also spent time as a coach after his playing career, and all of that earned Sharman a Hall of Fame induction in 2004.
K.C. Jones (1932)
It’s ironic that these two share the same birthday because they shared success throughout their Celtics careers. Jones was selected with the 14th pick in the 1956 NBA Draft by Boston, and he spent his full nine-year career with that franchise. Jones didn’t suit up until 1958 because he had to fulfill a military obligation, but he still stayed with the C’s. The point guard was a key piece to Boston’s championship teams, winning eight titles during his nine-year career. Only two players have more titles in NBA history (Bill Russell and Sam Jones), with Jones averaging 7.4 points, 3.5 rebounds and 4.3 assists throughout his Hall of Fame career.
