George Mikan (1924)
Mikan certainly earned the “Mr. Basketball” moniker during his storied career. Mikan was just that, spending all seven of his seasons with the Minneapolis Lakers. The big man immediately came out with a bang, leading the BAA with 28.3 points per game in his rookie season. His second season was much the same, with Mikan leading the league with 27.4 points per game. Mikan accomplished that feat once more in his third year, finishing First-Team All-NBA in five of his first six seasons, while making four All-Star appearances during that span.
He also led the league in rebounding twice and was a true pioneer of the game at 6’10”. The individual accolades led to team success, with Mikan helping the Lakers win five titles throughout his seven-year career. Mikan averaged 23.1 points and 13.4 rebounds per game and was inducted into the Hall of Fame in 1959.
Evan Mobley (2001)
Mobley is carving out an impressive career in his own right. After a successful collegiate career at USC, Mobley was the third overall pick in the 2021 NBA Draft by the Cleveland Cavaliers. Mobley finished second in Rookie of the Year voting in a remarkable debut season, averaging 15 points, 8.3 rebounds, 2.5 assists, 0.8 steals and 1.7 blocks per game. He followed that up with a sensational sophomore campaign, finishing third in Defensive Player of the Year voting in 2023.
The ticker has been pointing up since then, with Mobley averaging a career-high 18.5 points, 9.3 rebounds, 3.2 assists, 0.9 steals and 1.6 blocks in 2025. That career year led to Mobley taking down Defensive Player of the Year while making his first All-NBA and All-Star appearances.
