John Brisker (1947)
“Heavyweight Champion of the NBA” is an appropriate nickname for Brisker because he was one of the feistiest players throughout his era. Brisker went undrafted out of Toledo University but was signed by the Pittsburgh Pipers of the ABA in 1969. He made his first of two straight All-Star appearances in his sophomore season, averaging 29.3 points, 9.7 rebounds and 2.9 assists in 1970-71 while leading the league in field goals made and attempted. He also finished ninth in MVP voting that year and followed it up with 28.9 ppg, 9.1 rpg and 4.1 apg during the 1971-72 campaign.
Brisker played his final three seasons with the Seattle SuperSonics of the NBA before officially retiring in 1975. Throughout his six-year career, he averaged 20.7 ppg, 6.5 rpg and 2.4 apg across 331 total contests.\‘
